Shaver Lake

Here are the promised pictures. We had a ton of fun. Avery loved fishing, but Cole was a little more timid. He was afraid that if we ate the fish, they would bite his tongue. No worries now, they were delicious for dinner.

Cole Swimming at Shaver

We went up to Shaver Lake yesterday to fish and relax. Grandma and Grandpa were camping with another family, and invited us to come hang out. I made a slide show, but the program freaked out, so look for them later.

Half Dome

Bryan and a friend from Campus headed up to Yosemite to climb Half Dome on Saturday. I woke up at 3:15am (yes am!) to make him some eggs, Dave showed up at 3:30 and they left. Bryan said they got there at 6:00 (yes, still am) and hiked most of the day. Dave made it to the cables (which I learned you have to use for the last bit), but his legs were cramping, so he stayed there. Bryan really wanted to make it to the top, and he did. Dave had Spades and Bryan was taking Avery to a birthday party in the evening, so they troted back down and quickly came home. Bryan suffered mild heat exhaustion from the run back down, so he said the trip home wasn't the greatest. They were quite proud of themselves, and I am, too. However, it was a little funny watching their achy bodies as they were trying to get up on stage for choir, but they'll be fine for next week. All in all, about an 18 mile trip. Way to go, Bryan!

Cole

Ave's loose tooth

Avery has her first loose tooth. She is so excited, but won't just pull it out. She says it will hurt.

Quentin's Dedication

On Father's Day Quentin was dedicated at our church by Pastor Cecy. Grammy and Grandpa, Nana, and Great Grandma and Great Grandpa were all there. Avery and Cole acted as the entertainment while he spoke to the two other families up in front. Our goal is to raise our kids to have an amazing love for our Father. What an exciting responsibility!

Rub a dub dub

Joke: What do you get when you put three children in the bath together?
Answer: A very wet mommy and bathroom. And also a lot of fun and smiles.

#3

We officially celebrated Coles birthday on Tuesday. Grammy & Grandpa, Great Grandma & Great Grandpa, Uncle Chris, and Nana all came over for cake and ice cream. I made a funfetti cake trying to save some money, but after buying the icing, sprinkles, and cookies, I'm not sure there was a "savings". Cole wouldn't let anyone sing to him until everyone was there, and with each present he opened, he set it in front of the person who gave it to him. Quite organized- I think he gets it from Bryan (hah). Happy Birthday Cole.

Pasta, pasta, everywhere!

Not to neglect pictures of Quentin, here are a few. He loves pasta. Dinner tonight ended up everywhere, in every crack and every hidden spot on his little body and his chair. Not a huge problem until he rubbed his eyes and they started to burn, but nothing a bath couldn't fix.

Avery's donation

Mrs. Baucher heard about Avery donating her hair to Locks for Love, and asked her to make a picture for Mrs. Getz- who was Avery's inspiration. Today Avery gave her a beauriful picture she'd drawn. Christine was so touched, we couldn't even talk without crying. She told Avery how proud she was and how expensive real hair wigs are. Christine was going through Chemo at the beginning of the year while battling breast cancer.

A day of 3

Cole turned three on June 9. He opened presents while Grammy Honey, Papa, and Gramma Jo watched via computer. Then headed over to Grammy and Grandpa's for cupcakes and ice cream. We'll celebrate again tomorrow with more family. It was the year of Cars (we've watched it at least four times since yesterday) and Thomas the Train. Cole loves his new "wain wack".

Quentin at 11 months

Quentin is 11 months old today. He fills such a happy spot in our lives. He has two teeth (almost a new one on top- give it a few days). He crawls everywhere, loves to eat everything he's tried, and is beginning to play. He and Cole growl at each other and pretend to attack, then turn around and crawl away at super speed. He is just starting to cruise, but if he's anything like Avery and Cole it'll be quite a few months before he walks. What a great family God has blessed us with.

Annie (pt 2)

Here are a few more pictures with details I forgot. Avery played the part of Lily. She was thrilled to meet the "real Annie", but didn't question the fact that "Annie" also goes to her school. I was (and always am) so proud of her. She did not complain once about having to practice late or review her lines with me. She is already planning to do it again. How amazing she is!

It's A Hard Knock Life

Tuesday night we attended Avery's much awaited play "It's a Hard Knock Life". After practicing every afternoon for months, they were ready (well almost). A few forgotten lines, a minor sound problem, and two little kingergarteners making a plan to move the mike so they could talk into it, (yes, that would be Avery and her accomplice), it was fabulous. Of course they were hanging on the mike, so we clearly heard Avery say, "You pull it down, and I'll talk into it." She remembered all of her lines and happened to be near the hanging mikes so we could hear her well. All of the little snafus only added to the great evening. Her teacher was able to come... I think it meant so much for the kids to see her there. After it was over Avery relaxed and had what I'm sure is the drink of choice of all actors and actresses... Rootbeer.
My pictures aren't the greatest because it was dark and I was too far away, but Bryan recorded it and we'll get that out soon. Enjoy!
