Quentin's 1st pool party

Quentin also got to play in the water. He seemed to have a good time even though the water was frigid. You can see his tooth in the last picture.

What a Fantastic Friday

What a warm day we had on Friday. The kids played in our new fun sprinkler. Mai Yer and Jenny came over and before I knew it, their brother was here also. I thought the water was freezing, but they didn't care. If you haven't heard about my day Friday, it was terrible. I arrived at Avery's school just in time to hear that the school was on a complete police lockdown- not a drill. Turns out that some kids were rumored (not sure the details) to be playing with a hand gun and videotaping it in the park next to the school. After 20 minutes, the police came and released the kids. I have never and hope to never again have the completely helpless feeling of having a child locked in, me locked out having no idea what was going on inside. Luckily Avery has a great teacher who made it a fun experience huddled in their classroom, in the dark, with all the window coverings shut, in silence. Sounds like a barrel of fun to me. Home schooling anyone?

Tees

Avery, Cole, and Kyle made t-shirts last week. Great shirts... paint everywhere.

The Farm

Tuesday I had the fabulous opportunity to accompany Avery's K-1 class to the CSUF farm. I dropped the boys off at Great Grandma & Great Grandpa's and raced back to Starr. We rode the bus (I'd been looking forward to a bus trip with her all year), toured the farm, ate lunch, and went back. It was a great morning. I expected to hear crying from Quentin when we arrived to get them (it was the longest he's been away from me), but he was crawling around the house. Cole, Grandma, and Grandpa spent the morning assembling baby bottles for Pregnancy Care Center. At one point I was told that Cole needed a break, so he ran inside, raced through the house, out the screen door, and continued for a while longer. I guess that was a good enough break.

1st Tooth

Today Q's first tooth appeared. Do not be deceived by the word "appeared". It has been a very hard and long process, but it finally broke through this afternoon. It is hard to believe how fast the little man is growing up. He had his 9 month appt on Wednesday. He is 19lbs 13 oz and 28 in. long. He is now eating a ton, and prefers big people food to mush. He ate spaghetti noodles and artichoke heart a few nights ago. He'll be a gourmet like his daddy.

The Real Crawl

This is the real thing. Quentin can now move which means no cat is safe, no bead or marble can hide, and all doors must remain shut (as we found out the first dy when he fell out of the house). It took a bit, but he chased me from the living room into the kitchen. If you listen, you can hear a certain big brother saying "Go, Quenty," in his native Colese. Look out world!

Worm Crawl

This was Q's first crawl. He did this for about two days, before realizing that he could be more efficiently by using more limbs. Just long enough for me to snap a picture.

Easter

The Easter Bunny visited our house. Sunday morning we went to church to hear Bryan sing in the choir, then went to some friends' house. We had a relaxing afternoon and ate tri-tip. Yummy. The best part for me (Cory) was the excitment the kids had in remembering Jesus and the real reason for Easter. Cole is just beginning to understand, but Avery got it. The bunny was quickly forgotten... but the candy wasn't.

Of pots and clay

We spent Saturday at the MCC sale at Fresno Pacific. Avery and Cole were able to throw pots using a potter's wheel in the rain. They were both unsure at first, but figured it out quickly. Cole has a very strong thumb (as told by his teacher) and almost broke a hole through it. Avery was very open to the teaching techniques the man gave her. We'll get the pots fired soon and let everyone see. We also saw many friends at FPU. Christa and Aaron Wiens were here with their beautiful little girl, Charlotte. They were down from Oregon. What a fabulous day!

Open House

Last Thursday we spent the evening at Starr Elem. at Avery's Open House. She had fun showing us around the class. It's amazing how much the kids have grown and learned since that first day so long ago in September.
